...And then there were none.

Sadness. Disappointment. Guilt. Frustration. Confusion. We are all feeling it. On Monday night we along with our two domestic ducks lost our ducklings.
We are uncertain of who, what or how. We are rookie duck owners and we are learning something new everyday. I do know one thing for sure, 'something' got into the nest and perhaps, had quite a feast for a late supper. Ugh. Poor mama duck. I feel for her; she lost her babies yesterday. And, although ducks do not show emotion unless they are hungry; I know in my heart she is sad too. Our eggs were ready to hatch any day; she put in all of that time in her nest and went without food and water to protect it and keep her babies warm. It is just like a mother to sacrifice so much for her young. Although there is nothing to show for her efforts, she is a good mother duck. And as we are filled with sadness, disappointment, guilt, frustration and confusion, we are blessed to have experienced it; a valuable lesson learned. As we trust God, we will embrace the ups and downs of raising such animals. Praise Him for His miracles and the wonderment of His creation. Until next spring...

Though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which he suffered. Hebrews 5:8

This morning I felt God is speaking to me through this: It is just like Satan and his evil ways, in my life. He is 'hiding in the woods'. Watching; waiting, for just the right time to come in and steal, kill and destroy, all the good in our lives. It brings back a lesson from SAMmy's about praying for a hedge of protection around you and your family. Because the enemy knows exactly where the weak spot is in your fence...
Here are some encouraging words...

I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. PSALM 4:8

The Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. 2 Thessalonians 3:3

"No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me," Says the Lord. Isaiah 54:17
